Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer who is known for his distinctive blend of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. Her career path has taken her from Broadway to European festivals and clubs and even to her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine is a name that she has given her has been given as Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta however, she comes out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing as well as playing the piano at church. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training within Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005 she took on the role of the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the choral leader for this theatrical production. Sunshine was at the center of attention for all of the country during daily performances of four at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine then went on to be asked to sing in the presence of the President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
