Aaliyah Daniel Haughton made her way into fame in 1994 when she released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But a Numer. The singer was barely 15 when the album became Gold. This collaboration was strongly inspired by R. Kelly, and helped put her in the spotlight. In 1996, she released her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the top-selling single If Your girl only had known. Aaliyah's second album entitled One in a Million came out in the year 1996. It featured the top song, a huge hit,"If You Girl Only Knew. Aaliyah was a part of the famous martial artist Jet-Li Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romantic film. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die caught her at an awards ceremony. The year 2002 was the time she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced movie about horror Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels was her first role in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). The actress is of Indian origin and was born in Connecticut. The stage name Mann comes from her married name Mankad. But, she has both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar as her professional name. Although she began with tiny film and television performances, her acting began becoming more popular in the turn of the century. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials, including Volvo's global car producer. She lives in Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
